Challenge for High School Students

TAI - Teens in AI

Up to $5000 in awards

The TAI Challenge is a free program for high school students to explore how mind, brain, and AI shape decisions and creativity. Students collaborate through writing, no-code app-building, talks, and interactive learning.

4 Components & Timeline

The Challenge begins with a virtual kickoff on March 15, 2026. Teams collaborate and submit projects by April 5, followed by an in-person Challenge Day on April 19, 2026. Join the virtual info session for students and parents on February 22, 2026, 10-11:30am.

Decisions, Miss-isions

Throughout the TAI Challenge, in all four components, you’ll explore how decisions are made—by the brain and by AI. From fast thinking and mental shortcuts to miss-isions and surprises, you’ll examine how human choices work and how AI influences them in the real world. Complete multimedia study materials and inquiry-based chatbot prompts will be released before the start of the Challenge on March 15, 2026.

Participant Journey

A flexible, student-centered learning journey designed to fit into students’ lives. Participants may earn certificates and awards.

  • Form a team of three with friends, or be assigned a team on Inauguration Day.

  • Self-paced study using short multimedia content and guided prompts

  • Collaborative team projects developed over several weeks

  • Total time commitment: ~10–15 hours of study + ~15–20 hours of team work

Up to 50 TAI Awards, each with a certificate and $100 in cash (total $5,000), will be awarded to the top 10% of InsightX quiz performers and the top 20% of team projects in MindStory, VibeApp, and StageX, based on peer and judge reviews. We expect about 30–40% of participants to earn one or more awards. Details will be shared on Inauguration Day (March 15, 2026). Internship opportunities with partner organizations are in progress.
